12 March, 2026
Dear KAUST Community and Students,
With the Eid al-Fitr break beginning on March 19, many of you will soon be on the move, whether traveling within the Kingdom or further afield. Please travel safely during this period and we look forward to welcoming everyone back when the break concludes on March 29.
Today marks the last school day for TKS before the Eid break. I would like to wish students, parents, and teachers a well-earned opportunity to rest and recharge. It has been a busy semester, and the past few weeks have also been unsettling; the holiday is well-deserved.
I want to reassure you that we remain in close contact with national authorities and continue to monitor the regional situation very carefully. There has been no significant change to the situation since my last update: KAUST remains safe and continues to operate normally. Should that change, you will hear from us promptly through our official channels. For guidance, updates, and FAQs, please visit our emergency website at emergency.kaust.edu.sa
As I have said before, please feel confident sharing reassurance with family and friends who may have questions — KAUST is a safe, vibrant, and thriving community, and we are proud of that.
I wish you and your loved ones a restful and peaceful Eid break.
Sir Edward Byrne AC FMedSci
President, KAUST
